Hiking the 'Jack Pine & Coastal Trail' in Ingonish, Cape Breton Highlands National Park
This one had been on our radar for quite some time. We heard a lot of good things about it from friends and the images we had seen looked promising.
We ended up hiking it fairly late in the day, because of all the biking we did around Ingonish in the morning and afternoon. But the evening light was gorgeous and made the time spent along the ocean even more amazing.
The trail has a really nice forest section, but for us the golden part of hiking here was along the coast. There are so many wonderful viewpoints and the rocky shore makes for a fun hiking terrain. We were here on a pretty windy day and the waves were crashing quite high in a few spots. So that added another pretty sweet element to hiking this. Who doesn’t love to stare at crashing waves?
One of the best ways to end any outside activity on this side of the island, is heading to the Spa at the Keltic Lodge. They have steam showers, saunas and whirlpools and the usage for the day is extremely well priced. Enjoy!!
